The Lake Como School of Advanced Studies (LCSAS) welcomes proposals for events to be held at Villa del Grumello, from scientists in all domains of science.
Proposal
The Scientific Committee usually meets twice each year to consider proposals for programs to run one or two years later. It is therefore recommended that proposals be submitted at least one year in advance. Proposals are judged according to their scientific merit. Also positively considered by the Scientific Committee are multidisciplinarity, focus on emerging fields, and effectiveness in assuring external funding (to supplement the LCSAS contribution).
The Proposer assumes responsibility for the correct management of the School, if approved. The organizing Committee of the event is composed by the Proposer and other few scientists expert in the field. The Organizing Committee must submit a short scientific description of the topics and aims of the proposed school. A list of proposed lecturers, and their degree of commitment (solid, likely, tentative) must be included. A general brief description of the format of the event must complete the proposal.
Typical duration of a school is one or two weeks, with four to six lectures per day, and with two to four lectures delivered by each lecturer. Few special seminars from known experts are also welcome.
Once approved, a detailed program must be presented, to be included in the School web page, to encourage applications from participants. The organizing committee may also proposes a number of preferred periods to hold the School.
